May 14th, 2010Commercial airlines fares increase
May 14th, 2010Airline industry experts predict higher fares and less scheduled flights for certain routes due to the lack of competition after the Continental and United merger. What is your prediction on this? “Houstonians should expect some higher fares and fewer available seats to certain destinations, experts said. Fee policies also could shift.” Houston Chronicle Friday April 30, 2010

New passenger protection rules
May 14th, 2010What are your thoughts on the following new government new passenger protection rules?
In effect as of April 29, 2010, “the Department of Transportation’s new passenger protection rules allow the government to fine airlines up to $27, 500 per passenger if passengers sit aboard a plane on the ground for more than 3 hours. And after the two hours, airlines must provide food and water, operable toilets and medical attention if necessary. But because airlines sometimes clear just a few hundred dollars profit for a flight, many will cancel flights rather than risk fines, predicted Darryl Jenkins, an airline industry consultant.” Houston Chronicle April 29, 2010
